Ensemble exercises: Structured group exercises observed by the full panel. All prompts and materials are provided on the day. Nothing to prepare in advance. Scoring begins.
4:00 - 4:40- Exercises and Scenes, Part 2
Individual and pair work: Auditioners work in smaller configurations with exercises and scenes provided on the day. Selected auditioners may be asked to repeat an exercise with a single redirecting note. This is a positive signal, not a correction. The panel observes without interrupting.
4:40 - 5:00- Close
Wrap up and questions: Facilitator thanks the group and answers questions about the process. No results given on the day. Building must be cleared by 5:00 pm.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time to check in and get settled. Auditions begin on time and late arrivals may not be admitted once exercises have started.
For most of the session the adjudicator panel watches without interrupting. A small number of auditioners may be asked to repeat an exercise with a single piece of direction. This is a good sign, not a correction.
These are non-speaking roles. There are no lines, no monologues, and nothing to prepare in advance. All exercises and scenes are provided on the day. What you bring is yourself: your presence, your listening, and your willingness to commit.
Pantomime is important to ballet. Even in small moments, let your face, posture, and energy tell the story.
You are welcome to attend one or both days. Both sessions use the same format and criteria. Attending both is not required and does not improve or reduce your chances of casting.
No. We are looking for presence, physicality, and the ability to listen and respond. Prior theatre experience is welcome but not a requirement.
You may indicate a role preference at check-in, but casting decisions are made by the panel after both audition days. You may be considered for roles other than your preference.
No. Actor auditions are free to attend.
No. All auditions are closed. Families of children auditioning in Room B must remain on-site but will wait outside the audition space.
YBT aims to post the casting announcement by June 2nd, 2026.
We are not currently accepting video auditions. If you cannot attend either date, please reach out at info@ybtheatre.org.
The number of roles varies depending on final production decisions, but we expect to cast between 10 and 20 actors across adult and child roles.
