Emily Tylecote is the Founder and Artistic Director of Yavapai Ballet Theatre, where she leads the company’s artistic vision, community partnerships, and long‑term development. Emily’s dance training began at the Betsy Daily School of Performing Arts where she studied ballet, tap, and jazz. Realizing that her passion for classical ballet, she advanced into the pre‑professional training program at The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia before attending Yale University, where she danced for the university’s ballet company. She later refined her technique through the Cary Ballet Conservatory and the Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet. Highlighting performances included leading roles in The Nutcracker, Onegin and Scheherazade.
In addition to her work with YBT, Emily maintains an active career as a freelance dancer and teacher, bringing classical technique, artistry and pedagogy to studios across the region. She remains dedicated to ongoing professional development in dance pedagogy and is a certified Pointe Safe instructor. Her work keeps her connected to the evolving needs, ambitions, and artistic potential of the diverse dancers and artists within the community.
Emily is known for her ability to blend rigorous classical training with a deeply empathetic teaching style. Her work is defined by a commitment to excellence, dancer development, and the belief that world‑class classical ballet should be accessible within the communities where dancers live and learn.
Beyond her artistic leadership, Emily brings extensive nonprofit management experience as the founder of Treadway International, a global risk management consulting firm. As a mother and a homeschool and Sunday school teacher, she approaches her work with a deep commitment to nurturing potential. This blend of high‑level arts training, organizational strategy, and compassionate mentorship supports YBT’s emergence as a trusted institution within Northern Arizona’s arts ecosystem.
